Bluetooth not functioning on Precision M6600
I've had a great deal of trouble with my Dell computer since I bought a Covet M6500 less than a year ago. The problem with that computer revolved around the screen. The original covet was replaced with another covet but the same problems kept on occurring i.e. pixelated screen etc. The cure was to send me a M6600 supposed to be of equal or better value (is not). This computer came without the Bluetooth module. They sent one to me - I installed it and discovered it didn't work - they sent another - didn't work. The Bluetooth icon on the keyboard did not stay lit, the module didn't recognize the devise (mouse). So they sent out a tech with another module, motherboard, palm rest and I'm not sure what else. He did the install but the results were the same - no Bluetooth action.
Next they told me to do a clean install. I did it and now I have intermittent functionality. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Still no lighted icon on keyboard or to be more accurate the icon is only lit when the mouse is moving.
I know other people have had this problem from a stream I read which is about five months old.
Has anyone come up with a solution?

I think I finally solved this problem with the bluetooth radio erratically turning off on my M6600. You have to disable "allow computer to save power by disabling bluetooth"
In device manager expand "bluetooth radios" and go to the properties of the "generic bluetooth adapter". Go to the power management tab and uncheck the option above. This is probably a default setting on many newer laptops so they can advertise slightly higher battery life numbers. If you still have problems getting it to turn back on try manually reseting the radio by disabling and then renabling the by right clicking the bluetooth device in the device manger.
