boot loader

i am quite a newbie into this.i installed ubuntu on a usb hard drive and so along with it grub boot loader got also installed.for some reason i was not able to boot windows back so i removed ubuntu and from the windows cd i used fixmbr command to restore the master boot record.but now that www.dell.com in a blue stripe at the top of the screen does not appear now after the bios loads.i have a inspiron e1505 with 2gig ram core 2 duo 1.66 and ati radeon x1400.does anyone know how to get that back coz i read somewhere that on that screen if u press a key u start up the recovery image.
