Boot up problem. Explorer has performed an illegal operation.
two days ago everythign worked fine on my laptop. Last night i went to boot it up and it said it need me windows 98 cd key and my info again. I typed it all in and now when it boots up it says explorer has performed an illegal operation. it just sits there with the screen showing the wallpaper but nothing else. anyone know how to fix this or at least how to get my files off the hard drive. i dont have the windows cd

saving (backing up) what you have and perhaps re-formating and doing a clean install
