That is because all the DELL based drivers and the software were installed and since u have formatted the drive they have gone... the only way u can do it is by FN+UP ARROW KEY..

you can download DELL Quickset from the down load area of support.dell.com. It allows you to change the settings of the display brightness when on batt. power. Your system may have once had this program, before the format.  Good luck

Thanks bunches.  I have downloaded the quickset and I am still having the same problem  I just I will just have to deal with it.

I am having a similar problem.  The display starts out as it should on AC brightness and then dims as soon as Windows completes loading.
 
I have contacted Tech Support and they are going to replace the LCD.
No Events found!
