Hi, rotrials:

If your laptop is still under warranty, contact Dell. Otherwise, you'll find it's relatively easy to purchase a new keyboard to replace yours. The procedure can be found in the service manual (English version here).

Does right Control Key work? Is there a reason why Right Control Key could not be used instead?

Fix usually is removing something under key. With computer powered off,  battery out and  wires unplugged , open laptop so key & screen are level.  Like an open book. Turn over laptop & support laptop around edges. DON'T put pressure on LCD screen! Put newspaper or something under laptop to catch what falls out of keyboard

Gently tap bottom side of laptop near battery compartment or center of bottom of laptop.  DO  NOT TAP back of screen!!!

Many times things fall onto keyboard and wind up under keys preventing them from making contact. Tapping keyboard this way removes all the thing that have fallen on kb. over the live of laptop. You will be surprised what falls out !

If  keyboard is unrepairable, new keyboards are available on ebay.com for about $15.00 US Dollars or less. Replacement procedures are in Dell manuals on web. Look there for instructions.

Hope this helps

I try this too much times and nothing, that Key was twisted since 2008 I think and now I clean with a wet napkin, and the key jumps, probably that small piece is lost for a long time...

And is very very small.. I try to handmade one but it's too small.. sad thing...

That key is very usefull

Thanks again..

I know of a website which sells individual laptop keys. They sell genuine keys with their retainer plastic pieces for just $5. Browse through your brand name, model number and order your required key. It’s that simple. The best part is, you can repair your broken keys yourself by watching the video tutorials on the website. And they also deliver worldwide.Check out: http://www.laptopkey.com

Hope this helps you out!

You can use the on screen 'KEYBOARD' while waiting for your key/keyboard replacement.  Just type in KEYBOARD after clicking on START and you will have the on screen keyboard.  Hope this helps.
