BSOD While Installing Windows XP

Hello,

I have a Dell Inspiron 1526 and I am trying to install Windows XP on it. The problem is that during the install I get a BSOD. Here is the message:

STOP: 0x0000007E (0xC0000005, 0xAFEE0909, 0xF7B62BE4, 0xF7B628E0)

Atihdxp3.sys - Address AFEE0909 base at AFED0000 Datestamp 4c6d09e8

I have discovered that this is due to the HDMI audio driver. Is there anyway I can disable the HDMI port all together or bypass this issue?

Thanks!

Hi

You get a BSOD during the installation of windows ? Or After the installation is complete?

I am sorry i have never encountered a problem where windows gives a BSOD during the installation of the OS. After which screen exactly do you get the BSOD?

BSOD During Windows XP installation would only mean something wrong with the hardware.

Windows XP does not include HDMI drivers.

Windows XP installs native drivers which at no point will give you a BSOD.

If you do get BSOD during the installation of the OS, please remove any external devices as well as disconnect your system from internet (Wired).

Make sure you fully format your HDD during installation.

Also try with another windows disk (Windows XP SP3 Preferred).

I am not trying to install a driver myself, but windows states that it is installing devices, then the screen flickers a few times then BSOD. I have no external devices connected, but I did use the quick format option. Perhaps doing a full format will help.

Thanks
