Cannot Activate Bluetooth

Hello,

After deactivating bluetooth either with the wifi-switch or clicking the bluetooth icon, it cannot be activated again by either of this two functions.
If the BIOS is set to switch bluetooth with the wifi-switch, I could not find a way to activate it again.
If the BIOS is set to not switch bluetooth with the wifi-switch, after rebooting the pc bluetooth works again.
In any case the bluetooth LED is always off.

I tried Dell online pc diagnostic. It downloads and starts "DellPCDiagnostics.exe", I can see it is running in task manager.
But the web page complains: Diagnostic launcher was downloaded but could not be started ...

I loaded all available updates, without success.

My system details:
  Dell Precision M4700
  Windows 7 Professional 64 Bit
  Dell Wireless 380 Bluetooth 4.0
Service Tag Service tag removed per privacy policy>

Does anybody have an idea?

Regards
Beat

Hi Beat,

Uninstall and reinstall Bluetooth drivers on the computer.

  1. Click Start, Run. When the Run text window opens, type "devmgmt.msc" and click "OK" to open the Device Manager.
  2. Browse the menu of device categories in the Device Manager and find "Bluetooth Devices." Expand this category by clicking the "+" sign next to it.
  3. Check the box “Delete driver software for this device”, click ok and follow the on-screen instructions to uninstall Bluetooth drivers.
  4. Restart the computer.

Now install the Bluetooth drivers from the following link:

Hi Rajesh,

Thanks for your fast reply.

This is exactly the software I had reinstalled before. But you never know ... so I downloaded it again, and followed your prcedure.

For the installation I had everything set back to original default (wifi-switch for everything including bluetooth).
At the end of the installation the installer asked me to set wifi-switch to on. It was already on, off/on did not help, restart did not help.
Only when I set BIOS not to switch bluetooth by the wifi-swicth, the installer finished and all driver loaded.

The wifi-switch works perfectly for regular wireless.

The behaviour is still the same.

Regards

Beat
