cannot get signal to monitor
I am trying to connect an Inspiron 17 7737 to a P2414H monitor via a HDMI to DP cable. The monitor is reporting that there is no signal coming from the computer. Tried connecting monitor with same cable to other laptop with same result. The only option I have on my laptop is a HDMI port and the monitor only has VGA, DVI-D or DP ports.

Hi,
So, just to cover all the bases and make sure I at least ask, you did try FN+F8 to redirect the video output to the monitor, correct?
I know on my XPS 15 I had used an HDMI to VGA adapter for one of my older monitors I was using as a secondary display, so you have that option. I've never tried HDMI to Display Port but I'm pretty sure you get an HDMI to DVI-D adapter as well.
