Changing Motherboard when using windows xp pro!
Hi fellow members,
I have recently received a replacement board from dell technical
support,
had no problem fitting it myself, but the fun came when trying
to boot in xp again, the dreaded activation window stating that
I have changed the motherboard and cannot continue.
would anybody help me out with
sourcing the tools to get round this issue to let xp boot after
a major hardware change/change service/asset tag.having lost my last disk
Thanks all!

Try calling the Microsoft Product Activation Center - they should be able to get you set up with an authorization code to allow you to continue the installation with the new hardware.

yeah i have done also, but its just a pain, and i dont see why customer should pay over the odds for a operating system and have to re-activate and be restricted like this.
I dont use windows xp (thank god! :D), use linux personally, but i was just wandering if there was a time saving option.
