Cleaning notebook screen
Sorry if this is an old, or just plain stupid, topic. I tried searching the archives, but everything seemed to be referencing models from 3 or 4 years ago.
Anyway, here is my question(s). My new 8600 seems to have a screen that is much smoother than my previous notebook computers. It has an almost glossy finish. So, should I be concerned about scratching it during cleaning? And, what should I clean it with? Will Windex and paper towel do the job, or should I buy something special?
Thanks for the help,
Ross

What I use is a cotton ball and 50/50 solution of plain water and rubbing alchohol. Rub gently with a camp cotton ball and let dry :)
Windex and a paper towel might be a little strong for it, but I'm no real expert. I'd think it would be fine, as windex is alchohol based...

iKlear and a fiber cloth do a wonder. There is no smear or anything.

Use Isopropyl rubbing alchohal on a cotton ball or sort cloth and dry it with a soft, dry cloth.

I'm not sure where you are based, but I'm in the Uk and found an amazing cloth the other day in Comet. It's called an e-cloth, the glass cleaning one. It's fab, takes off any lil fingerpreint grease stains and if you have a stubborn mark (like when my dog decided to sniff it and left a huge smear that wouldn't come off) then you just wet it. Their website is http://www.e-cloth.com Using a kleenex tissue is not a good idea as it is made from tiny bits of wood, so could cause scratching. I was using my specs cleaning cloth til I got the ecloth, but it was just a bit small, I think my e-cloth is made of a similar material.
Good luck anyway :o)

Thus far, this is the best recommendation. I'll be buying one tomorrow! Thank you.
