First off - Congratulations on your addition to the family!

It sounds like it may be one of two things.

  1. The system is overheating
  2. The hard drive is going

To rule out the system overheating, use a can of compressed air and blow it into the exhaust area of your fan.

If that doesn't fix the issue, then run Dell's diagnostics and report back any errors that show up.

How to run Dell's Diagnostics

When it shuts down does it slowly shut down as in normal Windows shutdown or is it going off straight away? when it restarts does it come up with the options to safre boot or boot normally etc?

When it shuts down the screen goes black and the power shuts off about a second later.  It reboots normally without  entering safe mode.

I blew air into the fan to no effect.

I attempted to run the diagnostic three times and every time the computer crashed halfway through.

Is there anything I can do?
