Save youm money. Increasing the CPU frequency will not result in a noticable increase in performance except when measuring with benchmarks. A 20% increase in speed does not translate to a 20% inprovement in performance. If you are experiencing slow response or lagging when playing games. you will still have the problems with a new processor. You will have more improvement by turning off all the fancy Vista effects and tuning up the machine for performance. If you have only 2GB of RAM, increasing to 4 GB (with about 3.5GB usable) is easy, cheap and will also result in snappier desktop performance and faster program loading.

Very good advice by the previous poster, I am acknowledging that so you may heed it, save some money and put it to use in the proper hardware.
