CRT/LCD problem on D630
When I used my school's D620, the CRT/LCD Fn button gave me the option of LCD, LCD & Projector, or Projector only. I went out and got a D630 for myself, with an NVIDIA Quadro NVS 110M 256mb card. At home it works fine, but when I use it at school with a projector, it switches between LCD, Windows splash screen with no icons (projector only), and Windows screen as it should be (projector only). It will not let me see the image on my screen and the projector at the same time and it doesn't give me those option icons that the D620 did. Is the card that much different? Is there some kind of driver I need to install? Not being able to see what I'm doing on my screen is a major inconvenience.

Hmmm... I'm not sure what the problem could be. I have been using a D600 at work and a D610 at home and just a month ago bought a D630 with the Nvidia Quadro NVS 135M video controller.
I use my laptops with a couple different projectors. I'm not really sure what you are describing with the icons vs. no icons but currently with my D630 I have it in the port replicator attached to a 26" 1920x1200 Viewsonic LCD monitor. Just now I popped it out of the dock and attached it to my NEC LT245 DLP projector. By pressing the Fn+F8 key it toggles between Internal LCD only -> both LCD + projector -> projector only -> and repeats this sequence. It works the same whether I am logged in or sitting at the login prompt. I then unplugged the projector and sat the D630 back into the dock and it immediately switched back to 1920x1200 for the LCD monitor. I am running Windows XP Pro.
The one difference I did notice is that on the D610 when I press the Fn+F8 a little graphic pops up illustrating the various LCD/Projector modes but on the D600 and D630 I don't see any pop-ups when I toggle the Fn+F8 key.
I hope this helps.

Yes, sorry for my long-winded explanation, but that graphic that appeared on your D610 also appeared on the school's D620 but not on my D630. That's the least of my worries. The problem is that I can see the image on my laptop or the projector, but not both. Instead of seeing both, all I get is the image of the Windows XP splash screen on the projector but without any icons or anything else.

That is strange. I know it's a long shot but have you checked to make sure you have the latest video drivers and system BIOS loaded? Even though I just received my D630 there was a newer BIOS posted on the Dell support site.
