CTRL-BREAK on external keyboard
I've run into a problem similar to that noted on other forum messages. But I've never seen an answer provided.
The CTRL-BREAK combination is used in various programs to abort a procedure. I use it in Lotus Notes to abort large downloads.
While CTRL-BREAK does work from the internal keyboard on my Latitude (using CTRL-fn-BREAK), and it does work from the On-Screen Keyboard program (Programs - Accessories - Accessibility), I cannot get it to work from any external keyboard (Dell or otherwise). These are connected via the PS/2 port.
I've updated keyboard drivers to no avail. Any other suggestions?

hadanjm,
Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.
I am not sure why Ctrl-Break does not work, but I have a suggestion. Try using Scroll Lock as a replacement for Fn on the external keyboard (this can be changed in the BIOS).
Your internal keyboard, and the external keyboard use the same driver.
If you can use a USB keyboard in your application, then that might operate differently, since it uses a different driver. I know that the Scroll Lock (Fn) combinations do not work on a USB keyboard.

Rollie, a bit more info.
This looks to be a Dell issue alone. The CTRL-BREAK function works fine from a colleague's HP laptop... using both the external and internal keyboards.
How do we get Dell to respond on this? Our (large) corporation recently moved to Dell exclusively, but this incompatibility with Lotus Notes would be considered a huge negative. If not a driver change (as you've suggested below), is this a PS/2 hardware issue?
