mattsm,

Thank you for using Dell's Community Forum.

The 505 has support for the Celeron-M, Intel Dothan, and Intel Banias processors of many differing speeds.

I understand this, but what speed grade Pentium M processors are supported? I am looking to upgrade my current Celeron M 1.2 Ghz processor.

The new BIOS's don't enable support for CPU's faster than 1.7 Ghz?

I think you'll find the latest BIOS revision will support above 1.7GHZ. If your that keen, search through the BIOS updates as they list what changes in each update. Hopefully you'll stumble across one with added support for above 1.7GHZ.
