D600 crashes constantly - HELP!
So, my D600 keeps crashing. This is my configuration: 1.6 GHz, 60 GB drive, SXGA+ display, CD-RW/DVD combo, 1300 b/g wireless card and 1 GB Crucial RAM..
A short history of my D600:
1. I originally bought and installed 1 GB of crucial RAM, with part #: CT6464X265.8DT - My computer would keep crashing...Part # is important, I think...
2. I called Dell support and ask what was wrong. They of course said, that nothing was wrong with the computer and to reinstall everything (From scratch).
3. I called crucial tech support and explained my situation and they said that modules with part # CT6464X265.8DT, have issues and they exchanged it for module part # CT6464X265.8T
4. I reinstalled the OS and latest drivers (etc) and try the new RAM modules. My computer still crashes...More often now :(
I do know what there is a module with part # CT6464X265.16F and I read in one forum that this .16F part number actually doesn't crash the computer...
Does anyone have any issues with crucial memory with part # CT6464X265.8DT or CT6464X265.8T
Or
Have you gotten tech support from Dell to actually fix a Blue screen crash? I am starting to regret my Dell purchase and I'm well past my 30 day money back warranty :(
Any advice?

Does this only happen with the Crucial memory in? If it does then I would still suspect the memory. You may want to reinstall the original Dell memory and if it is still crashing run the extended test on the Dell diagnostics and see if a hardware failure is located.
Thank you for choosing Dell.

Actually, we buy the computer from Dell and save on memory by buying from Crucial.
Usually there are no issues with their RAM and they exchange and uncompatible product.
And to be honest, I'm not 100% convinced it's the RAM...Oh, well...

Has anyone run any thermal monitoring software on these problem systems? I'm just wondering if the system is shutting down due to overheating? I cannot as no admin rights on my work system. Does the system just die with the power light on, but unresponsive and needs the old 5 second hold of the power button to turn off? And then does the system not boot immediately when the power button is pressed?

I have a D600 that has the same issue using 1 GB Viking RAM. Have two 512 MB Modules, part # DL1356. I have removed and reinstalled the 256MB that came with it. Lockups have disappeared.

Press F12 to get the BOOT menu as soon as you see the DELL logo on-screen after powering on. You have to be quick or it will load the OS. If the OS loads, shutdown normally and try again.
When you get the boot menu after pressing F12, choose the DIAGNOSTICS option. It will run some short tests and ask you some questions. It will then tell you it is booting the diagnostics partition on the hard drive and ask you to press any key to continue.
You then get a menu of tests, including an EXTENDED TEST.
I ran these on mine and it found no problems. Mine turned out to be a problem with a Viking 512 MB RAM module. I contacted Viking support and they suggested I try running on each one of my 512 MB modules alone. This isolated the problem to one bad module, which Viking exchanged for me in a couple of days.

D600: 1.3Ghz, XPpro, 128Dell+512Crucial RAM, 1300 b/g card, etc...
I am having the same problem. Microsoft a anyalzed the crash and recommended checking the RAM. After running overnight test it didn't find any problems. Still I got the RAM exchanged. Still having same problem. Although this time after anyalzing the crash it told me that a driver is the 'cause of problem. Which one it couldn't tell. I am not entirely sure that crucial RAM is the 'cause since some people don't have any problem but I am not convinced that it doesn't have to do anything with it either.
I am just saving the crash analysis as .pdf's and planning to get my system replaced.
If anyone finds any other solution please let me know.

My system consistently crashes coming out of standy and after hibernating. It gives the windows blue screen of death and different reasons each time.
I ran the extended diagnostic tests and nothing was found. What is the best way to get the machine replaced? It was purchased from Dell refurbished 45 days ago.
Thanks.

I just come back from IDF San José CA. To have a longer battery life I enable the powerplay and then the system can't get out of suspend to ram or to disk. When press power, screen seems to have *missing pixels*. After 3 seconds, it reboot and tells about Radeon Driver issue. After two crashs, I disabled power play and experienced no issue.
