D600 port replicator power supply problem

I have a d600 that I am trying to use w/ a Dfamily port replicator (model # PRO1x).  I first tried the power supply that came w/ the computer...but that was not enough power.  I then bought a PA-10 family power supply off ebay that has an output of 4.62A - 90 watts.  When I boot up the computer recognizes that it is docked, but tells me that it is not recognize the power supply and tells me to shut down.  I tried updating to the current BIOS...no dice.  Where do I go...do I need a different replicator or a diffent power supply?

I have the same problem w/ my D505. It says the same exact thing to me. I am using the D/Port w/ a PA-10 power supply (part no. 9T215).

The d/port requires a PA-10 family power supply. I don't know off hand what supply comes w/ a D600. I have a PA-12 for my D505 but purchased a PA-10 for the replicator and get that error we discussed above.

Thanks for suggestion. Mine says 4.62. It gives almost the same error when I just plug the adapter into the notebook by itself too. It tells me to put the correct one in for optimal performance or something to that effect. It sill lets me boot w/ it though. But w/ the d/port it wont even let me boot, just says hit F1 to shutdown.

Having a closely related issue.

Using a Latitude D600 and bought a D/Port Port Replicator.  I have tried using the power adaptor that came with my Latitude but an error message says "power not sufficient" or something to that effect.

Is there a specific adaptor I need to use instead ??  Is this a driver or bios issue ??

Thanks for your help!!!!

Just saw this from another thread:

"Look at the fine print on the power supplies for the number of amps they output.  The ones that can drive the port replicators put out 4.62A.  While the ones for just the laptop put out something like 3A."

Not sure if this helps at all though.

Well....I have solved the problem.  The FIRST PA-10 adaptor I bought was off ebay and would give me the message I mentioned above.  I bought another PA-10 directly from Dell and it works fine.  Both have the same specs, but for some reason the replicator now plays nice w/ the power supply.

thanks for the info. strange... they are the same part number, same everything?

I guess you could call that a solution, although it's not so great to have to buy another one

I am right there with you...   I theory is that most of the PA-10s on ebay are a version prior to the port replicator introduction...then Dell made a slight alteration so that there was a compatablility issue and people would have to buy the adaptor again...

I guess that's possible, but the PA-10 I have doesn't even work properly when I just plug it directly into the notebook. How much did it cost direct from Dell? $60?

After shipping it was about $60.  The PA-10 that I bought off ebay also gave me a warning when I plugged it directly into the laptop...it did give me an option to ignore the power warninng...
