D630 965 ChipSet Driver

The Intel 965 ChipSet that comes in the D630 has a new driver version available from Intel but it won't load on the D630, I get an error saying "see your computer manufacturer". Any idea when Dell might make this available? The new one has the following version information according to Intel's site: * Production Version Releases * * Microsoft Windows* XP * * Driver Revision: PV 14.31.1 * Package: 39636 * * Graphics: 6.14.10.4864 * HDMI Audio: 5.10.0.1030 * * * September 5, 2007

Any update on this? I also want to use the driver from the Intel website, but have been stonewalled by error messages requiring I get drivers from Dell, but Dell is slow to update.

Microsoft Windows Vista* * Driver Revision: PV 15.6.1 * Package: 40198 * * Graphics: 7.14.10.1329 * HDMI Audio: 6.10.0.2035 * September 19, 2007 It's out for already 2,5 weeks, but still it isn't available for dell :( But doesn't it have a way around that you could skip that "stonewall" and install intel drivers anyway?

I figured out if you uninstall your current drivers and then install the intel drivers, it works. Now I get full dolby digital/ac3/dts over HDMI.

I downloaded the ZIP file version rather than the .EXE and then went through the Update Driver button under Control Panel..Display..Advanced..area.  Pointed it at the extracted version of the driver and it took it that way.  I didn't think the ZIP file was there originally when I posted this or else I missed it but that way seemed to work.

I installed the new 15.6.1 Intel video driver, but I'm having trouble. When the laptop is plugged in, everything is fine unless: a) I unplug the laptop. The screen goes dark. b) I lower the screen brightness. Past about 7, the screen goes completely dark. Reverting to the old driver fixes the problem, but the old driver has other issues (like not detecting external displays). Anyone else have this issue or know of a solution? Thanks

This is interesting. I have just got a D630, that i formated and put on XP pro.
the default discs that came with this machine have the GM965 Chipset, which is the Intel X3100 128MB onboard video card.
Once i reformated and installed the video drivers, as soon as the exe ends and it prompts a reboot, my LCD goes black.  When I attach a VGA cable and switch it to a monitor, it displays.
Ive went back to safe mode and removed the drivers and even tried it again, i get the same results.

I found newer drivers as well on the Intel site, but when I try to run them, it throws me out, saying that this is the incorrect product.

I am going to try to reformat the machine and install the Intel version of the newer driver and hopefully it will be solid then.

Anyone had this problem ? After installing the Video drivers GM965 the LCD screen goes black and stays black even after reboots.

Here it is 2011, and I am having the same problem Zenethx reported above a few years back.

I can't find older versions of the drivers, and the latest versions do exactly what was reported above.  When I use the external VGA and open the Intel video utilities, it indicates there is only one monitor (generic monitor) installed.  I'd like to figure out a solution.
