Hi,

I just wondered... is there any change one could use nVIDIA's 6.66... drivers for the D800 or does it have to be the Dell supplied ones?

Best regards

Yes we need a driver update from Dell because NVidia does not provide driver support for the d800 / geforce4 4200 driver.  Half-Life2 does not like this old driver!  c'mon, Dell take care of us!

i was hoping that a dell Moderator would read this and see if there was even any development being done, or if it was a lost effort hoping on some new drivers.

Thanks for the omega drivers link--that driver allowed me to play HL2 while the dell driver couldn't even load HL2 (gf4200 go).

Does dell have any plans to release updated drivers?

Here's a sampling of the emails I have gotten from US Mobile Support on this topic... doesn't seem like there is much of an effort to get an updated driver out there for us on the 4200 even though there are new ones for the 5600.

Not to mention the nearly continuous updates that NVidia provides to their non-OEM cards.  Why can't Dell just certify the drivers that NVidia writes?  I can understand a bit of a lag during this process, but 14 months without an update is bordering on the ridiculous.

In any case, enjoy the thread.

Our engineers have been working hard towards the development of the
advanced driver for this card, and hopefully will accomplish the process soon.

I would really love to help you out, however, really cannot untill the
next advanced driver is available.

Thank you for choosing Dell.

I am sorry to say that we have no idea when it will be available
as there is no definite timeframe in which a update is made available.

We assure you our best support all the time.

Thank you again for choosing Dell.

I would have loved to provide you with the time frame within which the
update would come however there is no estimated time for the same,
however as soon as it comes it will be posted in the Dell Support
website. I am extremely sorry for the inconvenience caused .

Respectfully,
