D800/D-Port Replicator "cannot eject computer ... error

Just installed D800/D-Port replicator for a client.  NSS A14 update installed.  USB keyboard, USB mouse and Dell 940 printer connected to D-Port USB ports.  Client gets following error:

"You cannot eject your computer because one of the devices in the docking station "HID-compliant device" cannot be stopped because a program is still using it".

After some detective work, I narrowed it down to the application in the system tray for the Dell 940.  If I exit that application, system undocks fine.  If I do not allow it to install (Start-Run-msconfig-Startup, uncheck dlabmgr.exe), also works fine, but the scan button on the printer will not bring up application to send scan to different aps.  Scanner still works, though, from Control Panel-Scanners and Cameras-Dell 940.  Does anyone know of another work-around that still allows the scan button on the 940 to work, and allow undocking without error?  Dell - is there a new driver that solves this problem?  Is it a problem only with the 940 or the other Dell multifunction printers, too?
