Dead Pixel Policy
I called the technical support yesterday, about a dead pixel
on my Samsung SXGA+ display on my Inspiron 510m. I was told that
they can replace my display without the assurance of getting
a good display without a dead pixel. Right now , there is one
small spot on my display(3" from bottom and 3" from left side),
I was told that they will replace it but there is a possibility
that I might get more dead pixel on my screen (around three or four),
they told me that it was the maker's policy.
Is this really possible for a new notebook to have a dead pixel
and the exchange policy without the assurance of getting a good display?
If this is the case it just means that Dell is lacking some quality
control on their products.

it arrived. It's almost the size of 3-4 dot characters combined
and black in color, almost in any color being displayed it is
very noticeable.
With this policy of not getting a better display, I'm having
some doubt if I'm gonna have my SXGA+ display be replaced.
It's just like I'm gonna gamble, if I'm lucky I'll get a perfect
display and if I'm not, I'll get a much worse display.

Usually if you have something like 4 to 5 dead pixels (or fewer if they're touching or if they're in the center of the screen) then you can send the lcd back. This policy is fairly universal.
I've had four notebooks and three of them have had at least one "stuck" pixel. Stuck being different that dead in that it always displayed only one color. You can always try lightly pushing on the back of the lcd where the pixels are -- it might help. As for me, all my stuck ones went away with time. If they annoy you, I'd send it in and try for better.

and its not just stucked on one color. when I tried to
put the mouse pointer's line to that black spot, it seems
that that pixel is really dead or looks like burned.
My LCD also have an uneven lighting on the lower right edge portion,
that portion looks darker than the other edge.
Do you think If I'll have my LCD replaced what is the probability
of not getting an LCD without a dead pixel in it?

It more likely looks like a burned portion. The center is black,
while the edge is a bit lighter than the center.
It also looks like a pen mark inside the LCD.
Do you think that black spot on my LCD will disappear later?
How long does Dell gives warranty on LCDs?
I only have a one year warranty on parts, does it also includes the LCD.
I was also told that they will replace my LCD only once, without
the assurance of getting a good LCD. Is this TRUE?
This is the reason why I'm planning not to have my LCD replaced this
early, if I have it replaced and have some future problem on that
replacement Dell might not give warranty on that replacement LCD.
That small black spot annoys me, because most of the time I'm
using a text editor with white background.
Anyone can shed some light on this matter.

I called Dell yesterday, and they already arranged
to pick up my computer this monday, it was supposed to
be picked up today but I just badly need it this weekend.
Hope this time I'll get a better LCD.

morning, my notebook arrived with a new LCD, so far the new LCD
has no dead pixel in it.
It took only 3 days to have my notebook's LCD replaced in their
repair center, 3 days earlier than what the tech support said.
Good support.
