delete key not working

A couple of weeks ago I was reading my manga on my computer. I have each page of the manga as an image file and I "read" it by using Window Fax and Picture viewer. I went away from my computer for a little while and when I came back it was asking me if I wanted to delete the picture that was on the screen. I said no and it kept asking me the same question so the only way to get rid of the message was the click yes and then it wanted me to delete the next picture and so on. Luckily the image file went into my recycle bin so I did not really loose them. This was maybe about three weeks ago. The delete key on my keyboard has not worked since then plus when I turn on the computer there is a beeping noise like a key is being pressed but I am not even touching the keyboard. The weird beeping noise when I turn on my computer and the delete key not working started after I got the message asking if I wanted to delete the image file. Just to clarify that the insert key and the backspace key still work the only key on my keyboard that does not work is the delete key. I can live with the delete key not working but my main concern is the strange beeping noise when I boot up my computer. The laptop is only a little over a month old. I think I got the laptop on May 2, 2006. Any help would be greatly welcomed.

Check for any keys being pressed, particularly the shift keys. If this doesn't work, your warranty (if it is still in effect) may cover this. Call Dell. Usually, the beeping noise won't harm the computer.
