Dell Bluetooth Mouse Question

In looking on the Dell website, I see a number of mice that look similar but are noted as compatible with certain laptops. Why is this? Isn't a bluettoth mouse the same as another?

The reason I'm asking is that I am looking to get one for my Studio 17 laptpo but they do not have a single mouse option. Only the keyboard mouse combo.

If I select the XPS mouse, will it work with my Studio 17 laptop?

If you ordered a Bluetooth card for that Studio 17 then yes a BT mouse should work if not then you would have to get just a regular wireless mouse with a receiver.  Keep in mind that you should only buy the accessores Dell guarantees as compatible with that laptop.  Logitech makes a nice BT mouse called the MX Revolution it's a bit pricey but it has it's won BT receiver which you plug into one of your USB ports.

any bluetooth mouse will work. You do not have to use anybodies bluetooth receiver. It does not have to be for that computer. That is if you have bluetooth module in your computer.  I have ms bluetooth mouse, ms keyboard, kensington small form bluetooth mouse for travel, bluetooth printer, bluetooth camera (Kodak v610) and they all work flawlessly.  You really dont want to have a receiver sticking out of your laptop, if you can help it.  If it is hit, it will destroy the usb port(happened to me on an older dell)  Just be sure and read the instructions on how to pair, sometimes the manufacturer has its own pin number and will not work with your made up pin. Alot of mouse pins are 0000.  Also, go to dell support and download latest bluetooth stack(driver).
