Dell E1505 Black Screen
Hi Everyone,
My sister was on the internet and the screen went black. The computer appeared to be running. After waiting to see if it would turn back on she held down the power button and started over. It will allow her to sign in, load and load the desktop page but soon after it will go back to the loading page and continue like that over and over. Any idea what is going on?

It is most likely a dying backlight. If the system is under warranty, call Dell for repair. They'll replace the screen. If not, contact an LCD repair specialist - the cost to replace a backlight is $100-150 - far less than the cost of a new screen.

Is that what is causing it to go from the log in page, to the loading page and then to the desktop and then repeat over and over again? It won't let me stay on the desktop. I can't even to anything.

I would guess you have spyware or a virus. You could try hitting F8 once the computer starts and go into safe mode with networking and see if that stops it rebooting. If is does run a virus/spyware scanner. If it doesn't you could use a virus boot disk to run a scan.
You can also try changing this setting to stop it from rebooting -
Right click on My Computer and select properties.
Click Advanced tab.
Click Settings under Startup and Recovery.
Under System Failure uncheck Automatically Restart.
Click OK.
Other questions to ask - Did you recently load any new programs? If so remove it.
Did you recently update a driver? If so roll back the driver.

If the system is rebooting, I would bet it's a failing hard drive. The Dell diagnostics (F12 at powerup) will tell you.

If it tells you what will it say ??? What would the error code Be ? what does 4600:0009 Mean and the Message : initialization failure SmBios 33 ??? Something need to be reset or is the HD Bad ???
