Dell E520 should I keep it?
I have a Dell E520 desktop. It needs a hard drive and 2GB of memory.
DIM E520,Intel Pentium D Processor 915 with Dual Core Technology(2.8GHz,800FSB)
1GB DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHz
250GB SATA II Hard Drive (7200RPM)
256MB nVidia GeForce 7300LE TurboCache
Is it worth spending $80-$100 on the computer?..I would be using it as a backup and for a flight simulator. It has Windows XP now....I was going to install Windows 7... I think it is 8 years old
Thanks for any help!

Hi,
Thank you for reaching us.
It is totally up to you to decide if a 8 year old PC needs a Hard drive, Memory and OS upgrade.
Since you've made it clear this is just a backup PC, You may add extra memory to speed it up a little bit.
Windows 10 is about to be released, If you wait for a month, You may consider switching to Windows 10 if it is compatible to run on your PC.
Thank you

My even older single core D9100 runs OK, but not too fast, with Win 8.1 and will be upgraded to 10. It is my shop machine. You should be OK if you upgrade the amount of RAM. The E520 supposedly can take 8 gb, but you will probably be using 32-bit Win 7, limiting you to 4 gb. You need a minimum of 2 gb to run any Windows smoothly. Going to 4 gb is better; Crucial has 2gb 667mhz modules for $26 each. Once Win 7 is installed, you will need to use Vista drivers unless Dell has Win 7 drivers available in the driver section.

I just purchased Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4 GHz Quad-Core (HH80562PH0568M) Processor for the Dell E520
I hope it will work! I paid $12.83 for the processor
I have 4x1 GB ram in it
Should I update the graphics card? , if so what should I get? model #
Do I need to add anything else to the Dell E520 with the Q6600 processor? I think I need to upgrade the bios to 2.4.0
Thanks for any help!
