it is an intel based product and the number coming up on a system analysis tool I have here[Aida 64 ] is that it is a
''Dell wireless 5440 mini card adapter''.
None of the Dell driver downloads available are for this part.
Would it matter if I downloaded the other ones[I tried one and driver is incompatible with the hardware] and installed them onto the laptop? Is this wise?
that's all very well...I see what you are saying. the driver I am looking for is the wireless adpater driver for this laptop. I think I explained that.
There is seemingly no driver available for the part that is in this machine.
It looks like it is a ''dell wireless 5440 mini card network adapter''.
If I type this into the search bar, I end up here and no further with no ability to actually get the driver.
Can you assist once again and point me with a link in the direction of the driver for the wireless adapter?
having tried to install the driver/s for this device[one of the ones recommended for any of the adapters on this laptop, I get an error saying the software is NOT COMPATIBLE with the hardware in the system.. I have downloaded all of these drivers and not one is compatible with the laptop.
ejn63,,,you set me on the right path, thanks. The Intel wireless device[WLAN] is one of the Intel items used in this laptop. I can't remember the details of it. Simply put the device product number into google and found it led me to the proper Intel driver which, when installed created a bit of goodness for me. The wireless light on the kbd came on and that was that. Sorted!

What model wireless card do you have (the one you refer to is not for wifi - it is for mobile broadband through AT&T, etc.).
