Dell Linux-Laptops in Germany

Hi forum,

last year I bought a Latitude 13 with pre-installed Ubuntu 9.10 on it.

Now I checked the german website of Dell and there is, in contrast to the english one, no Linux laptop on offer anymore! Does anybody know, whether Dell Germany has dropped the Linux laptop series?

Thanks to the ones, who know the answer!

What difference does it make whether they dropped it or not

You still have your laptop.

I thought about buying another one for our living room in the new future - if they dropped it this wouldn't be possible.

That is the slight difference my friend.

You could still purchase the new laptop and install Ubuntu yourself.  This may be an option for you.

Hey, that is a very good idea, I really didn't think about it myself already...

Joke, I already have a laptop with original Windows Vista and Ubuntu on top of it but:

1. I have to pay for the Windows version

2. It is not guaranteed by Dell, that all components will work under Ubuntu.

Any further sugestions? Maybe someone knows of Dells current relation to Ubuntu?

That's not what you wrote originally. You asked why they aren't selling any. That is the slight difference my friend.

No, I asked WHETHER they still sell any. So:

1. If you want to reply, READ MY POST FIRST properly.

2. I don't need such silly replies, like if I wrote why or whether or what. Does anybody else has a suggestion?

koesmi,

Most of us here are users of Dell's products just like you.  We are not privy to such knowledge unless it has already been made public.

I believe the best thing to do is to contact Dell's sales office where you live and ask them.

I'm sorry that I cannot be of more help than this.
