Dell Precision M65 CPU Running Very Underspec
Recently (possibly since a rebuild, but probably before) my CPU has been running at 1GHz (instead of the 2GHz it's clocked at) after any amount of use. The laptop
is plugged in (attached to a port replicator station) and set to the always on power scheme (which supposedly disables Intel Speedstep).
The processor is an Intel Core 2 Merom, all drivers are installed.
The laptop also runs fairly hot, so I suppose it's possible it's underclocking to prevent frying, but I didn't know that mechanism existed. I'd send it in to Dell because of the heat issue, but my warranty expired in April (I send in a broken laptop under warranty and they don't add any time to the refurbished one they sent back, great support /sarcasm).
Anything obvious I'm missing?
