Dell Support Contact
I've a DELL Inspiron 6400 / E1505 Laptop. I purchased this machine in Dec 2006. The warranty expired the following year in Dec 2007. Since, I had no problems and didn't expect any as I use this primarily at home I didn't care to renew it. Now the problem that I am facing is the Laptop Lid doesn't close properly, probably the hinge has gone bad. I checked Dell Support site but I can't obtain an E-Mail ID since it asks for my Service Tag prior to that and redirects me to Warranty Expired pages. I tried calling but usually the phones are busy. When I do get a person on the other end he first asks "is the system under warranty?" and when I reply "no" he transfers the line which is on hold for long time and I never waited for that long. So finally this is my question: What should I do to contact support directly and if the system is not under warranty is all support void till I renew the warranty? In the later case I am really sad and will be discouraged from buying any of the Dell products as this can't be an option that your system is not under the AMC so we won't support you. My country is India.

No computer vendor provides free out of warranty support any longer - they should have a pay-for-support option (in the US, it's $50 per incident).
Alternatively, take the system to a computer shop locally and have the hinge and back cover replaced - the parts total well under $100US, and the labor should be inexpensive - maybe the equivalent of $75US total for the repair.

I forgot to mention but yes, I am willing to pay. It is alright but not to have a pay-for-support option as you mentioned is totally ridiculous. Should I try to mail randomly at support@dell.com / support@dell.co.in etc.
