This does seem to be a common problem with Windows 8 touch screen convertibles in general, not just Dell XPS 12. Hopefully Microsoft will provide some updates to the OS to address these issues. I occasionally experience the same issue, but it can easily be fixed by putting the system to sleep and then waking it up. Frustrating, that's for sure!!
I am having issues with the touch screen flickering and nothing works. Can use arrow keys to move around, but unable to use touch to pick items. Trying to close a window only makes the icons larger or smaller. Have to hit Alt-F4 to close windows and must power off the system to shut down.

I still experience random problems with the touch screen as well. Just stops working for no reason and I have to put the computer to sleep and then wake for it to fix, but this doesn't always work. It's bloody amazing that this problem still has not been fixed, given that this is a major feature of the XPS 12.
I have the same problem! I put the system back to factory settings and at first that worked. But after 1 day the old problem occurred again! No touch screen function! Could it be that my laptop automatically installs new windows updates, like the 8.1, so the problem keeps occurring....??

Same problem here, although I didn't have an issue up until a few weeks back when I wiped my XPS12 and put on a fresh 8.1 install.
