Dell XPS won't boot (not even from disk)- error code 0f00:065d

I have had this Dell XPS laptop for about 4 years now and was about to buy a new one anyway - I would just be very grateful if anyone could help me fix this problem so that I have the use of my computer over the next few weeks.
I can't get the computer to load past the "windows corporation" loading screen: it will sit there for hours. Even when I tried loading from the microsoft disk to restore/ repair the system it still gets stuck at the same point. However, I am wondering if it stops trying to load from the disk because it stops making any "spinning" noise once this screen appears? On the day error occured I removed a dvd whilst the computer was starting up and since then it has failed to load - could this have anything to do with it?
I have run diagnostic tests and got the error code 0f00:065d. Whilst attempting to start through safe mode it appears to get stuck at crcdisk.sys.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to solve this error? Even if only temporarily! Thank you

The hard drive has failed - you'll need a new, 2.5" 9.5 mm or slimmer SATA notebook drive.
