Disable the close lid sensor

I'm wondering if anyone know how to physically disable the "close lid" sensor on an Inspiron 8200 or disable it in other ways? I can't find any pins or similar on the outside or inside.

I'm having problems with returning from standby with the lid closed. It works if the lid is open. I'm using my laptop as a carputer with an external 7" monitor. It works great, except that it freezes and the screens go black if I try to wake it up after the second suspend with the lid closed. I've tried every setting in the BIOS and in the Power Management (Win XP)

(If anyone is wondering; I've wired a pushbutton to the on/off button under the lid to be able to turn the laptop on/off with the lid closed.)

Any ideas?

It's a magnetic switch in the palm rest area and a magnet in the screen area. You could take the screen bezel apart and remove the magnet.

Just why do you want to do this.

Thanks a lot! I didn't think I would get a response this quick! Really hopes this fixes it.

The reason is that I want to be able to suspend/restore my laptop with the lid closed. It is stored under the dashboard of my car, so the lid has to be closed due to space restriction.

I've also got a problem with my powersupply. Every time I start the engine with the laptop turned on, I get a gray screen saying I'm using a 70 watt PSU, and that I have to press any button to continue. This is annoying, but I get around it by starting the car before restoring the laptop from suspended state.

If you bought the car adapter from Dell it is the wrong one. Yes it is the only one that Dell sold for the i8200 but it only puts out 70W. The i8200 needs a 90W unit to function properly. More than likey the one you have works OK when the car is running but when you use all the juice from the car battery to start the car the car adapter can't recover and the i8200 sees it's not the right wattage. I bought my car adapter from Lind electronics and it is a 90W unit.
