Well take it apart and dry it out.

After a few days to make sure it is really dry put it back together and hope for the best.

Sapphiree,

Instructions on how to remove the keyboard can be found at this link. It's for the Inspiron 8100 but it'll apply to yours as well.

hi,

is there a floppy in the drive ?

You can take the floppy drive out, and the cd/dvd.

Try booting and while you do that listen closely to the harddisk - is it spinning up ? Or up and down, or not at all ?

And do you get the same 'disk read' error ?
