A few months later here but also trying to find a docking station or port replicator for an Inspiron 1520. I am well aware Dell no longer offers one (I loved my old 6000 that had one). But is there a 3rd party offering that works?
Sounds like the OP on this thread found one. I would just like to be able to plug it in and have monitor, keyboard, and mouse ready to go. Could still go wireless so don't need wired ethernet.

Unless the port replicator has a power switch - which is not likely, as it won't be a true dock - you will need to open the lid to turn the power on.
