E4310 No Webcam

There is an integrated device on device manager but NO symbol for such under my computer.  The Inspiron, an HP, a Toshiba,  all have such an item and turn on instantly when clicked.   The advice given does not work (very long url link). and received from Dell_Aryan_V.    How is this to be easily fixed?

Hi JanisNeu,

Welcome to Dell community.

Please run an online diagnostics on webcam and get back with the results. Please follow the steps below to run the test.

1. Open the link http://dell.to/X2azp2
2. Select ‘Hardware’ under ‘Dell PC Diagnostics’.
3. Select ‘Webcam’ under ‘Diagnostic Selector.
4. Click on ‘Run Diagnostics’ button.

I would like to know if you are checking the webcam through Skype or any other camera software. If the webcam is not getting recognized in the Skype or webcam software, please follow the steps mentioned below for refreshing the drivers for webcam.

  1. Open ‘Device Manager’ by clicking the Start button . In the search box, type ‘Device Manager’, and then, in the list of results, click ‘Device Manager’.
  2. When the device manager pops up, in the list please check for ‘Imaging devices’.
  3. Under ‘Imaging devices’ check if you are finding webcam.
  4. Right click on the webcam available and click on ‘Uninstall’.
  5. Do not check the box which says delete the software and click ‘OK’.
  6. Restart the system and check for issue resolution.

Also, you can download the "Dell Webcam Central" software from the link below.

Please let me know if this helps.
