E6410 Video Memory Increase
I am using a Latitude E6410 and it has an onboard Intel GMA HD graphics card with a shared memory of 32MB. Although the machine has 2gb shared memory there is no adjustment for allocating the memory for graphics. Is there any one that has a solution for my problem? Thanks

There is no way to manually adjust the video allocation, if that's what you're asking.

The 32M is a fixed frame buffer - NOT the video RAM. The video RAM will adjust as needed.

The system allocates video RAM dynamically - when you're sitting at a BIOS screen, there's no demand for video RAM, so the allocation is low.
How the video RAM is allocated depends on the CPU you have and on the OS version - if it's an i5 or an i3, the GPU is part of the processor, not the system board.

Dell should release a BIOS update to make it possible to adjust the graphics memory otherwise it is really weird to have a laptop with graphics memory of 32MB in 2010. I do not understand why it does not let user to adjust it on BIOS menu.

ejn63, I think if the shared memory is 2gb then I can able to adjust it and give some to gaphics. Only dell does not give permission to do this. When I check video memory from BIOS it tells me 32MB.

I understand what you are talking about. My laptop's CPU is Intel i5 and OS is XP SP3. My main problem is cannot use NX UG sketching program. My co-worker who has E6400 which has 1GB graphics memory allocated totally 2gb shared can use NX UG without any problem. My concern is to adjust my video memory and increase it to 1GB so that I can also use UG on my laptop. I am looking for a way to do this.

It sounds like your use for the system would be better served by one with discrete graphics - not just the integrated video.

but E6400 has also shared memory and my friend works on UG well with that configuration which has 2gb shared memory and 1gb allocated to graphics. If I would adjust my shared memory there would no problem with UG.
