e7240 Dock / Port Replicator network reconnect problems
Hi, we are using a e7240 with a dock / port replicator which is working just ok from switching on / restart.
We can undock this and plug in a network cable which will connect fine, but when re-docking the network isnt always found, everything else works, video, usb etc.
Does anyone have any idea / clue / resolutions?
Thank you.
Steve.

Hi SteveCacSem,
Thanks for the post! I would first suggest making sure the Ethernet cable is connected correctly when docked. These Latitude systems are designed to transfer functionality, from the systems built in network port, over to the docks network port whenever a system is connected to a docking port / e-port replicator. This transfer of functionality is managed through your systems BIOS so making sure the BIOs revision installed is up to date with the latest released on the dell support site is recommended.
Latitude E7440 & E7240 system rear ports are disabled when docked

You may encounter a situation where a USB device (USB dongle for a mouse for example) connected via the system rear USB port on a Dell Latitude E7240 or E7440, no longer works when the system is docked. This article also applies to the Ethernet port.
Other customer have described similar problems in our forums as well, have you come across the following thread: http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/laptop/f/3518/t/19563793
Thanks,
