You need to be carefule about which CPi model s you are moving memory from/to. Some of the older CPi models (CPi D for example) do use EDO memory.
Did the memory your CPi R reported as EDO work in the other system? What exact model was the other system (another CPi R)? What happens in your CPi R if you swap the memory in the two banks? Does the error follow the DIMM? If so, it is possible that your DIMM has gone bad...
The other laptop I exchanged memory with is a Latitude CPx. It has the same memory as my CPi. The CPx worked when I put the memory in from the CPi. Vice versa did not work. I still get the same error.
