You need a new hard drive - yours has failed.

If the system is under warranty, call Dell with the error and they'll replace the drive.  If it's out of warranty, you will need a new, 2.5" 9.5 mm or slimmer SATA notebook drive, along with your recovery media (if you didn't prepare a set when you received the system, you'll need to contact Dell to purchase one now).

Replacing the drive on this model is not an easy job -- see the video link below for the procedure.

Hi pgupta9009,

First of all, I would like to ask you to remove your S/N from the forum, because it can be counterfeited. You can write it on the WD official site to check if your disk is still under warranty. Here is the link : http://wdsupport.wdc.com/warranty/warrantycheck.asp?custtype=end

Second thing you could do is to check if your disk is really dead or not with the WD tool Data LifeGuard Diagnostics. Here are the tips: http://wdc.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/940/session/L3RpbWUvMTQwOTExOTc5Ni9zaWQvLTUzZVRTKmw%3D
My recomendation is to try the EXTENDED TEST.

Hope that I helped

Thanks KY_WD

I checked for hard disk warranty and really shocked to see the expiry date as 25 Aug 2014, the day when I got this error. What should I do now?

Could you, please, check the drive with the WD tool that I mentioned?

I wonder what would be the results of the test, so, please, provide me with print screen of what happened.

You can try also with the chkdsk /f command.

Keep me posted. Good luck.

If the system won't start up, you can temporarily mask the symptoms by a full format/reinstall of Windows - though the problem will come back again as the bad sectors propagate.

You really need to replace the drive before doing the reinstall.
