'ERROR CODE:0141, MSG ERROR CODE: 2000-0141, HARD DRIVE:- NO DRIVE DETECTED'

Hi, Just over a week ago my laptop crashed, or rather my screen frozed, and when i went to restart my computer, the system spent a long time on the micrsoft windows loading bar, without anything happening. I restarted again and the same thing happened, and I began to realise that there must be something wrong with the hard drive. To cut a long story short, i ran a diagnositc test and the results came up as 'ERROR CODE:0141, MSG ERROR CODE: 2000-0141, HARD DRIVE:- NO DRIVE DETECTED' I ve since tried to restart or reload vista through the cds that where originally sent to me with my comp package, and to no success, as again the computer was saying that no hard drive was detected. And since then after restarting the computer the system doesn not go onto any loading screens, rather it just goes onto a screen saying that no hard drive detected, please renistate/stall hard drive. Is this a system/hardware problem and would i have to send this back to dell for repair, or can i repair this myself. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

The hard drive has failed.  If you're in warranty, contact Dell for a warranty replacement of the drive - it's a customer-replaceable part.

If you're out of warranty, post the system model and someone will assist you at choosing a replacement drive.

I have the same problem, the blue screen of death. My system was a E1505 Inspiron with a Vista operating system. Any help would be great.

Replace the hard drive - any 2.5" 9.5 mm or slimmer SATA notebook drive will work.

Have just had this happen for the 4th time... Third time this year! Anything else that could be causing the issue??

The two fastest ways a hard drive will fail are by excessive shock and overheating.
