failure to boot up
I get this message occasionally I am completely shut down and trying to boot up: "The device in the system modular bay cannot be identified. It may not be completely inserted or may have some other problem. Please read and do following: 1) press the device completely and firmly into the bay. 2) Press the ESC dey--wait for the sysstem to power down. #) Press the power btton to retry detecting the device. I have been told to press the power button then press on F2 rapidly. This doesn't work. The loading indicator moves from left to right and stops an eighth of an inch before its complete. Pushing the CD drive in firmly does nothing either. Help!

I am not at all familiar with your model but it would seem that you can remove the entire CD module and get the laptop to boot normally. What version of Windows are you using? If XP then you should be able to insert the module while the laptop is working and if the CD drive is ok you should get the messages that XP found the drive. If it continues to tell you it cannot recognize the drive or some other sort of error message it may be that your CD drive is defective.
