Flash Cache Module (aka: Intel Flash Cache Logic Chip Mini-card)
Hi All,
I'm being patient while my laptop is "In Production", so I've been reading the owners manual (Page 149) and it says something about this FCM which is enabled only on Vista, but it's optional. I didn't see anywhere on Dell's website to order this "Flash Module" which is supposed to speed things up, kind of like those Samsung hybrid hard drives with flash memory built-in I suppose. Does anyone have more info on this??
Thanks... Lon

FCM is supposed to speed up booting and disk caching. Most reports show little to no improvement. With your configuration, I doubt you will see anything. You can try a ReadyBoost memory module, either a fast SD chip or flash drive, to see if you get any help. If so, you could do the FCM. They are about $25 from Amazon.

Thanks,
I do have a 4GB Readyboost Thumbdrive that I use on my desktop, I don't see much of a performance boost with it, but I've never done a benchmark test. When the price drops a bit on the solid state drive I'll probably upgrade to that.
