FN Key Enable

Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.

The [Fn] key performs BIOS-level functions.  With this in mind, I recommend that you reset or update the system BIOS to the latest available.

I have the latest bios A17 for the 3800. I can't locate this function ..the manual says  "Enable the External Hot Key option in the System Setup program" ...does anyone know where this could be found..?

Iam running windows xp pro...

Please look on page 2 of the system BIOS.  There is a place where you can toggle this option.

Is there a previous bios upgrade that I cound install to enable the Fn functions?

 

Hi, I have the inspiron 600M laptop, brand new..I am having the same issue....My function(fn) key is not working...this seems ludicrous that you have to "activate" something in order for it to work...do I really have to do something to get this button to work..I really do not have the time or patience to look through I manuall. I, like many other people know how to work a computer and need not read a manual...Please, Please, Please tell me it ain't so...
