Fuzzy display after installing XP Pro

Inspiron 1720, Windows XP Pro sp2.

I received 15 of these that I have to setup. The systems originally came with Vista. We are running applications that are not supported within Vista, so I am wiping the drives and installing XP Pro. Everything works fine. However, the display is not as crisp as it was in Vista.

I installed the latest drivers for "Mobile intel 965 Express Chipset Family" from support.dell.com. The odd thing is that after rebooting and logging in the display briefly looks very clear, then the dislay flickers for 1/2 second and then goes back to the fuzzy dislpay.

When you reinstalled the OS, did you install the Intel Chipset drivers for your system?

If not, you can get them HERE.

 

You can find all of the drivers that are specific to your system HERE.

I just stumbled on the fix. Since everything appeared to be correct as far as the drivers were concerened, I thought maybe something in my profile, such as graphics settings, was causing the problem.

Right click on the desktop>> select Graphics Options>> Panel Fit>> Center Desktop. It was previously set as "Full Screen (No Border)." Instantly the display was crisp, as it was in Windows Vista.

Thanks for the suggestion. However, I've already installed the Chipset drivers. Should I do it again?
