GeForce 6800 Go 8.1.8.4 Driver Update & Core/Memory Clock issues.

7.8.5.1 is the latest version I've seen on dell's site (it's installed), and I want to update to 8.whatever. I know it's out there, since I've seen other 9300s with it on 3dmark06.

I'm trying to update my drivers because I'm getting some disturbing results from 3dmark06.

Take a look at this (this is the compaired system):

We have nearly identical systems, but my graphics card has a memory clock of 12MHz as opposed to their 752MHz. My Core Clock is also low, at 198MHz compaired to 384MHz. What's up with that?

Perhaps this is just a driver problem (the only major difference between my computer and the one I compaired it with), so I want to start by updating it. This is, however, proving to be impossible...

Eliminating some of the long list of background processes would help too, but I think updating's more important and immediately relavent.

heh. Actually, I just got that advice about an hour ago on a different forum.

I've yet to test it, but so far it's working well (of course, I never noticed anything MAJORLY wrong with the dell drivers. I assumed slowdowns were due to accumulated bloat in my systemtray and harddrive...)

Thank you.

I'll keep you updated on how it worked out. Oh, and here's what I had found:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
NOTE: This is an updated version of the XTreme-G MobileForce 81.98-v2.25 set
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Logically speaking, I probably shouldn't be messing around with my drivers while I'm drunk, but I have an astonishing amount of faith in myself... Time for the real test... the benchmark. again.
EDIT: Having redone the benchmark, my score improved marginally (very), but I now have a normal clock speed... for the core and the memory. Time for overclocking... (just the recomended overclock.... I've been hearing that Dell has actually took the recomended specs and underclocked them. Supposedly to sell more of the higher end graphics cards on the XPS systems, but I don't really buy into that theory.)

I overclocked it by about 10% (much less than yours). Performance in 3Dmark06 increased by 170 points to 1778.

I'm unsure if this will have any noticable impact on gaming, but it can't hurt.

New System Performance:

Erm...
I'm ramping it up, but slowly.

I know I could go higher without any trouble, but I see no problems in being cautious... Personally, I'm interested to see the effects on temp as I boost it..

i got 84C TOPS with a GPU STRESSING PROGRAM... CORE SLOWDOWN is 97C so u r fine...most games i have 70 TOPS...with the exception of guild wars which i have 80...ull be fine...remember, heat is only a problem to the person, the compy is desinged for it :-D...and if u still are worrried (which u shudnt be, since i have OC'd ALOT)u can get a cooler pad or just elevate ur laptop off the desk for more air circulation (which i did) :-D...

Really?

After a couple hours of CS:S (I had bumped memory up to 700), running the new militia at nearly full graphical settings (beautiful, btw. whos needs a 360? ha.), the top of the laptop was getting quite hot. When I check the GPU core temperature, it was only 57C though...

Thanks for the heads up...

Hey 81.98 from NVidia (straight) with an inf to make it work is really stable and fast.  I had problems with a tweaks version.
