I had this exact same problem trying to find a compatible Win 8 touchpad driver for my ancient M1530. I ended up re-installing Win 8.
I would try to re-install whatever latest Win 8 pad driver Dell has on the drivers page for the 15Z and see what happens. If still a problem, go to the Toshiba web site and find their 64-bit Win 8 driver. Dell drivers are very basic and do not have many functions. The Toshiba drivers are rich in features. They have drivers for both ALPS and Synaptics pads.
You shouldn't have to turn off the pad to be able to use the machine.
Sorry. Have been answering too many touch pad problems lately.
I would get Dell on the Chat Line to assist in diagnosis. Intermittent problems like this can be messy to diagnose. Before you start a chat, make sure the problem is present.
I have also exact same problem. Tried Dell Support but this problem can not be explained over remote call since the touchscreen is not available to the support engineer. Wasted 30 minute.. not sure what to do next
I had the touchscreen ghost-click issue on my brand new 15z (but not the wifi problem other respondents mention). Agree, it makes the laptop completely unusable. It actually happened on my very first power up and interrupted the initial setup process. Problem temporarily went away on reboot but randomly recurred within 2-3 hours of use, resume from sleep, and occasionally on fresh reboot.
Here's my fix:
Used the Dell Support tool to find updated drivers; ran the chipset, touchpad, and display updates and haven't had the problem since(48 hours).
1) Went to Dell Support; entered service tag
2) Clicked on Drivers & Downloads tab
3) Clicked on "Analyze System for Updates"
4) Allowed installation of "Dell System Detect" tool
5) Got a list of four updates; installed the three that might be relevant (ignored audio patch)
Chipset_Intel_W8_X00_A00_Setup-R11GY_ZPE.exe
Input_Driver_C9MR8_WN_16.3.1.1_A06.EXE
5523_Video_Driver_X5KHV_WN_9.17.10.2867_A03.EXE
For what it's worth, I also recalibrated the 10-points on the touchscreen: Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Tablet PC Settings -> Select "Calibrate" button on Display tab
I am having a similar problem with "screen ghosts" on an Inspiron 13" (7347). Dell Support has told me its a virus problem (since the BIOS hardward check came back 100% okay) and they could fix it with a $239 annual software contract. I have not chosen to take up their offer and want to find out what solved your problem (I don't want to disable a touchpad or touchscreen) ... or, perhaps, any others passing through might have some suggestions on how to control ghosts which are apparently touching my touchscreen!
I am also have the same problem. Dell inspiron15z touch screen is get clicked automatically. I didn't get any solution till now. Now I have disabled the touch screen driver from device manager and using as a laptop without a touch screen display. Lost money invested for touch screen laptop.
I believe I have found the problem and the solution.Theh ghost clicks on my computer appear on two cases :
1. The Internet connection is lost.
2. The touch screen attached to its stand, is in wide angle instand of standing straight. Meaning, the weight of the scree aand the pressure applied to it by its stand isn't as usual.
So, it seems that the problem is both software and hardware.
The solution that works for me is:
1. Upgrade to Windows 10 pro.
2. Apply manual pressure with my fingers tips on the bottom back of the screen. Give him a small massage..
3. After a few times, I gained more confident and I opened up the back cover and managed to pin point the exact component that makes all the troubles, and I used.. The ultimate solution.. Duct tape.
Good luck

**Boo Dell for shipping it in this state.
**Yay Dell for making the drivers easy to find.
Good luck.
