GPU temperature 74 celcius when idle

Hello, I have a precision M70 since 1.5 years. The GPU temperature seems quite high to me: it is 74 celcius while the notebook is totally idle. Two fans are always running, though slowly (3000RPM) and I don't really hear them. Is that normal for an M70? The chipset is 70 celcius and the CPU 52. I just found this out by installing i8kfangui. I'm only using it to read the temperatures, not to control the fans.

I use the same program for Linux and Windows. I would suggest using it to control the fans, if you think your fans are not working. Then you will need to run a diagnostics.

You can blow the dust out by using a can of compressed air. Cans are usually available from Wal-mart or any office/electronic store. When I blow mine out I blow air into the fan intake slots and put a hosed vaccum on the exhaust slots. Also if you heat up the air can with warm faucet water (Don't use boiling water or any other means to heat it other than faucet water. The air can will have more pressure particulary after using it and blow stronger.

Hope that helps.
