I was curious and tried to check what's wrong. I have some experience with software. However, there are no spyware or other addware, scripts on the laptop.
I'll bet there's a ton of unnecessary hooey in msconfig/Startup, though, which means it's all running when Windows starts, whether you're going to use it or not. More running applications = more heat.
Then, I checked the bottom of the laptop. The left hand side where the Ram is located is really hot.
Just like it is on every other D600.
I mean if there are lots of heat generated, why didn't they put cooling fans near the ram also?? The cooling fan is running but it is located top left hand cornor and it's not connected to memory area at all.
Heat doesn't necessarily mean "bad." One of the reasons they don't call them "laptops" any more is because of all the heat the new models generate under normal use.
This extra heat makes them uncomfortable (as well as unsafe) to use in your lap, but this isn't necessarily a bad thing, for you or the notebook.
I am not sure the problem I am having is due to unstable memory allocation.
It more than likely is not. Sounds like normal operation, to me, but you might be able to get it a bit cooler by clearing all the unnecessary junk out of the aforementioned Startup list.
I didn't have such problem during the winter.
Automobiles overheat less during the winter, too. That's because the ambient temperature is usually lower.
Even during the summer it should do what it is supposed to. But this notebook can't handle softwares when it gets hot after a couple of hours of continuous use.
Freeing up the memory is a good idea, yet when suspend the notebook for 30 min and wake it up, then it works fine. No restart needed.
That is why I said it is due to heat problem. Everything is fine. I am ok with the warm feel of left hand side. Just worried about crashing.. losing all the data.. etc
I could actually buy a storage and start backing up. Because I am pretty sure the weather is going to be hotter till the end of August.
But why should I need all the fans and airconditioning, turning it on and off just to make it work as it is supposed to??
as I said, there isn't any fans or cooling system that I can see for hard drive or Ram area...
maybe I should put an ice pack on the left bottom of the notebook... lol
It really bothers me and if the dell does not do any inspection or replacement, I'm going to tell all the people I know that dell machine is not a computer but a portable heat pack.
I mean, it heats up quite fast and it is quite hot*.
I'll give it a try, but it seems to me that the laptop was poorly designed for sure. They didn't put enough ventilation/cooling system on the notebbook to reduce the sizes...I guess.

That's what I thought...

Locate (on Dell Support) your service manual to aid in some disassembly.
A household vacuum cleaner and compressed air will also be necessary.
You can buy an aerosol can of compressed air.
I do this monthly to avoid heat problems, heat can do more than just slow your system.
The slowing is your 600d trying to avoid heat damage to its components.
