Help Error Code 0146 2000-0146
My laptop wont start up. It a Inspiron 1545 purchased about 18 months ago. It wont start up and when I run the diagnostics I get an error code for the Hard Drive.

Error Code 0146
MSG: Error Code 200-0146
Msg : Hard Drive 0 - Self Test
Log contains previous errors.
Now hunting around this forum it seems my Hard Drive has failed :emotion-6: and I need to buy a new one. Have I got that right. Also I need to contact dell to get some Windows disks to re-install my software. Also what would like to know is there any way of getting at the data in the hard drive by connecting so my Lap top in some way when I have fixed it. Thanks in advance but I dont think I am going to hear good news.

If the system BIOS still recognizes the drive (F2 at powerup), you can mount the drive in an external case and attach it to a working system to see if you can recover anything.
