[HELP] I9300 Multimedia Buttons

Before I formatted/restored my laptop over the week, my multimedia buttons on my I9300 would control my Windows Media Player (which I use to listen to music) while I had other windows opened (web browser, games, etc). After I formatted/restored my laptop, my multimedia buttons would only control my Windows Media Player if no other window was focused, meaning I would have to either minimize all my windows or click on the desktop/taskbar to make my multimedia buttons functional again.

Does anyone have any idea what could have caused this problem and how I could solve it?

Thanks for the reply, Tom. It's too bad I didn't know about the installation order, but at least I know now for future reference. :)

When you reformat the hard drive you must also reload certain drivers in the proper order.  Go to the dell support site and first download and install the "notebook system software", then I think the "chipset drivers"  After that, someone else can help, or search the forum for the proper order to install the various drivers.

The chipset drivers need to be installed first.

Other than that, the odrer doesn't matter.

Thanks for the reply, cmspaz. Installing the chipset drivers first fixed the problem. :)
